Ginger's Other Half
A Day in the Life of Ginger Rogers' Kitty Foyle
These photos feature model Carol Lorell in famous Kitty Foyle outfits and poses
I was unable to find any other information about Carol Lorell except she was apparently a well-known working model who continued modeling even after becoming a mother.

Ginger Pounces on Ann Sheridan's Ex

I couldn't find a 1940s picture of Eddie Norris, so the above is a more recent image. Eddie passed away in 2002. Eddie was an actor in his own right, active from 1933 until 1963. He appeared in such films as Boys Town, Scandal Sheet, Decoy, The Kentuckian, and the cheesetastic sounding Killer Shark.

Blondes: Colors That Flatter
Here are the last of tips for blondes. It again comes courtesy of Ruth Murrin in 1940s issues of Good Housekeeping, and has to do with the all important wardrobe. With stunning angelic looks, what clothes could possible compliment this?

A blonde's main problem in choosing costume colors is to avoid anything that will overwhelm her. The girl with bright golden hair, sky-blue eyes, and pink cheeks is vivid enough to hold her own against almost any color. But the average blonde must avoid bright shades because they pale her skin and eyes and dim her personality. Soft pastels or grayed shades of blue, rose, orchid, green and very soft brick are her stand-bys.

Black, excellent for the blonde with a flushed, high-colored complexion, is treacherous for others. In velvet it must be stunning, but in dull crepe it often makes a fair girl look washed out.

Tan, beige, wheat, and similar neutral shades are tricky, too. Combined with brown, these colors are flattering to the brown-eyed blonde or to the type whose light hair and dark cream or golden skin make a lovely monotone. But they may emphasize a skin that is not too good or make a pale blonde look faded, so for these colors make-up must be planned with unusual care.

Favorite Foods of Famous Stars: Gloria Stuart

The wonderful Gloria Stuart (born July 4 1910) provides us a cold meal for a hot day today. Her cold delights include: Ham Mousse, Spinach Ring with Mushrooms and Whole Beats, Toast Triangles, Butter, Cream Vermont and Chocolate Brownies.
I'm not quite sure I would enjoy a Ham Mousse or Spinach ring, but I do love butter toast. Definitely intrigues by the Cream Vermont. Curious about what it looks like and would taste like. And can you really go wrong with Chocolate Brownies?

The wonderful Gloria (second from the left), took a hiatus from films after 1946 and returned gradually to the spotlight by appearing occasionally on TV starting in 1975. Most people today however know her as the Old Rose from 1997's cultural phenomena Titanic.

Some Gloria trivia:
She is the oldest person to be nominated for an Academy Award

She was a founding member for the Screen Actor's Guild

"When I graduated from Santa Monica High in 1927, I was voted the girl most likely to succeed. I didn't realize it would take so long" - Gloria Stuart
Here is Gloria with the stars of 1933. It also includes some of the fabulous ladies that have been highlighted in the cookbook such as: Ruth Hall, Ginger Rogers, and Lona Andre.
Future featured star whom we will learn about in a few days, Dorothy Wilson, is also included.

Favorite Foods from Famous Stars: Ginger Rogers

The fabulous Ginger Rogers (July 16 1911 - April 25 1995) was the answer! This stunningly talented star provides us with her favorite dinner with a "continental piquancy". Her dinner includes: Tomato Ice, Baked Veal Birds, Parsley Buttered Potatoes, Broccoli with Hollandaise Sauce, Hot Rolls with Butter, Cranberry Matchstick Ring, Date Butterscotch Pudding, and of course Coffee. I think I might even try the pudding.

Wonderful Ginger also includes an additional dessert as well as a Midnight Snack (Yeah!). For dessert, Ginger chooses Fresh Strawberry Glace. Sounds delicious. I definitely will try this recipe! And for a Midnight Snack: Late Supper Salad, Peanut Parsley Sandwich, and Grape Mint Punch. I really like the Grape Mint Punch recipe and am intrigued by the Peanut Parsley Sandwich, but I'm not sure if the Late Supper Salad would agree with my tummy in the middle of the night.

I think it's pretty safe to assume that y'all know about Ginger, so I'll just give a little trivia:
Her great-great-grandfather was a doctor who discovered quinine, the cure for malaria

Turned down Donna Reed's role in It's a Wonderful Life (1946).

Was kind of related to my fav, Rita Hayworth. Ginger's aunt married Rita's uncle.

Favorite Foods of Famous Stars Gigi Parrish
Gigi Parrish (Aug 30, 1912 - Feb 8, 2006) provided us with a wonderful dessert menu. Even though it is described as "unusual bridge desserts", the options look rather tasty to me.Gigi's menu includes: Chocolate Mint Parfaits, Smooth Fruit Sherbet, and Fresh Peach Ice Cream Pie. Delicious!

Above is a picture of Gigi on her exciting Honeymoon at the tender age of 15. I never was able to have a Honeymoon myself, but I can't imagine choosing to motorcycle across the country during the 1920s. Gigi was obviously an adventurous dame.
Gigi Parrish was a real tough one to come up with some info or pics about. She only appeared in 9 films, most in uncredited roles. The most famous films she appeared in were Twentieth Century (934) uncredited and Roman Scandal (1933) uncredited.
I've added some of films I knew she was in. The Hollywood short was fun. Wish I could get some of those giant beer glasses :)
Gigi was also part of the 1934 WAMPAS Baby Stars. The WAMPAS were seen as promising stars of the future. Some WAMPAS babies included Joan Crawford, Clara Bow, Ginger Rogers, Joan Blondell, Loretta Young, Fay Wray and several other girls featured in this cookbook.
