Wizard of Oz Wednesday

Cowardly Lion, Dorothy, Tin Man, and Scarecrow

These fun photographs were taken by Clarence Sinclair Bull or the cast of the Wizard of Oz (1939)

Ray Bolger as The Scarecrow
Ray Bolger was clearly meant for this role.  His vaudeville background played right into the physicality required for the wit-lacking scarecrow.  And who doesn't feel his pain when he is set one fire?  One of the scariest moments to a child when watching the film.
Bert Lahr as The Cowardly Lion
Who doesn't love Bert Lahr as The Cowardly Lion?  Played to perfection, the roly-poly lion is a crowd-pleaser.  I definitely think he is the most lovable to children (he was to me, at least).
Jack Haley as The Tin Man
Jack Haley is probably best remembered for this role.  I also enjoy his 1930's radio dhow, Wonder Show.
