Vintage Inspiration July 28th

Today would have been silent screen star Barbara La Marr's (1896-1926) birthday

Her beauty was so beloved by Louis B. Mayer, that she became the inspiration for Hedy Lamarr's name

Known as "The Girl Who Is Too Beautiful", she partied a little too hard and passed away at 29 of tuberculosis

For a bio, check out:

Oooohh, what a tenderly young age to pass away at. It leaves one to wonder what would have become of her career had she made lived longer and made talkies too.

Thank you very much for your super kind comment, my sweet friend. You're such a dear!

Big hugs,
♥ Jessica

A sad but interesting bio of this beautiful star who lived long ago for only a short time. TB was a terrifying threat back in those days. Fortunately for us, medicine has come a long way since then. Thanks for sharing this bit of vintage news! I really enjoy your blog!

I love reading biographies of old actresses and actors from back than. It's interesting to hear about this actress though. I haven't seen many silent films, so I don't really know much about the people in them. It's sad that she died so young.
Lovely post!
And thank you for your kind comments :) I really appreciate it!
