Move Into Marion's Mansion

Marion Davies Rancho Mirage, California estate at 1 Von Dehn Road is for sale.  It was built in 1956 for the well known actress.  It is 13,908 square feet with 9 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms.  Clearly every room has their own bathroom with more to spare.  It resides on almost 3 acres.  The asking price is almost $4 million.  Clearly, the interior has been redone recently and wouldn't have been anything Marion would have used.

Hurd's Home

Actor Hurd Hatfield and Jean Willes; 1949

Hurd Hatfield (7 December 1917 - 26 December 1986) appeared sporadically in films, but the roles he played were quite memorable such as Pontius Pilate in King of Kings (1961) and Dorian Gray in The Picture of Dorian Gray (1945)

Stewart's Sanctuary

James Stewart at home in, I'm guessing, the 1960's or 1970's?  I have to say I saved the pictures primarily for the books.  I love trying to figure out what was in the libraries of the stars.  It's just too difficult to read the titles on the spines.  If anyone can figure them out, please let me know.

Leslie Lets Us In His Lair

Leslie Howard; 1941

Leslie Howard lived in Dorking, Surrey in a 16th Century Farm House named Stowe Maries.  He thought he had bought a "white elephant", but it seems like an amazing home to me.  He and his wife Ruth would entertain many celebrities there including Bette Davis and Ingrid Bergman.  According to a fascinating story on the UK Telegraph, his wife Ruth even novel way of keeping him away from his glamorous female guests.

If this isn't the way I expect an Englishman to look, I don't know what is!

Fashion Friday: Martha Raye Shows Us Her Shoes

Martha Raye and her shoes

Martha Raye has cool shoe collection.  Even one of those pairs would be fabulous, let alone a full cupboard full.  I'm totally jealous!
