Simone Simon starred two of my favorite films, Cat People and The Curse of the Cat People. I love Val Lewton horror films and she was featured in two of his best. And she's cute as a button in this gorgeous black dress.

Some Simone Simon trivia:

• She was born in Bethune France
• Her maid revealed that Simone allegedly rewarded men to whom she was attracted with a gold key to her boudoir
• She had a fling with George Gershwin
  

Vintage Inspiration July 16

I like to try products that were around in my favorite time periods (If I can find them. Any suggestions for places to look?)

This time I tried Prell Shampoo

Worked pretty well

Definitely made my hair squeaky clean

Not so great at softening

Thank goodness for conditioner!

1937 Beauty Clinic - Good Housekeeping

Irradiated with ultra-violet light, the above skin cream apparently releases "atomic oxygen" into your skin. Not sure what that involves, but it doesn't sound good to me. Hopefully harmless!

Skin problems are a highly common thing. It is so difficult to get just the right balance. Great advice about lotions and creams. I try to do it religiously, but I forget sometimes.

Curious about the lipstick advice. It would never occur to me to wear lipstick to bed. Your pillowcase would be a mess in the morning!

This poor girl! I guess I have not had as much powder drama as she has. I do understand sensitive skin, though.

I don't know why, but this ad just creeps me out. Makes me think twice before eating my veggies!

Visited the Hershey store in Chicago across the street from the Water Building.





Chocolate is just one of those miracle foods that I can't live without.

Many a day goes by when I need a little chocolate at the end of the day.

Chicago's Water Building. Very inspiring. One of the few buildings to survive the Great Fire.

Below is the illustrious picture that got me kicked out of the water building. What was it's secret?

Is it Al Capone's vault?

Is it a Secret Passageway?

Or does it hold Pirate Treasure?

Seems like I am constantly trying to be neat, so I am completely amazed by how the women of the 1940s were able to be so together.

This pic also reminds me of a scrape my younger sister and I got into as a child. We decided to play a game we made up called "powder people". Needless to say it involved tons of baby powder followed by Jenna and I cleaning every inch of the upstairs (It took about 2 days). You can't say we didn't have imaginations :)
