Lizbeth Lounges Lakeside or Strong Scott-ish Sunburn

Lizbeth Scott; June 1946

Summer is probably one of my least favorite times of the year.  Don't get me wrong, I adore sunshine and simply love swimming.  My body always feels lighter and in less pain when I'm swimming.  Who knew water could be so magical?  Those joys aside, the heat is simply dreadful.  I spent the weekend camping with the in-laws in a Chicago field, and I was dripping wet the entire time.  Also still suffering from a bad case of the sunburns.  I have the Irish complexion.  I'm not of Irish descent, but I have extremely pale skin, freckles, and Auburn hair, so apparently reapplying sunscreen once or more an hour like I do is not enough.  I should invest in an aloe company or something.  I'm afraid I might have to get bangs again, simply for the fact that I'm not sure how many more times my forehead can handle the blistering.  So, I guess my question is: Does anyone know how to stay dry, cool, and non-burnt in the summer sun?  An unexpected perk - I lost 5 pounds!
