Vintage Inspiration June 22

Happy Birthday to the Birthday Boy for today, Paul Frees!. Paul Frees was a master voiceover artist. He did a lot of radio on such classics as Gunsmoke and Escape (I am totally addicted to Old-time radio XM 164) and cartoon work. Frees was born in 1920 and passed away in 1986.

Paul Frees was also the voice of some of the all-time greats of advertising icons including the Pillsbury Doughboy and Toucan Sam.

Rankin/Bass, the wonderful Christmas special company who created such classics as Frosty the Snowman and Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer employed Paul Frees in a lot of its specials including Nester, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, and Rudolf's Shiny New Year.

He also was the voice of Boris Badenov, one of my absolute favorite characters. I love Rocky and Bullwinkle. It was my favorite Cartoon as a child and I love it on a whole different level as an adult.
