Vintage Inspiration June 10

I absolutely LOVE Alice Faye! She is one of my all-time favorite movie stars. She was incredibly talented and had a deep, luscious voice. A favorite treat is listening to her old-time radio, specifically the Phil Harris-Alice Faye show on XM Satellite radio's Radio Classics channel 164 (I'm on old time radio addict).

Alice Faye is not only glamorous, but she seems like a genuinely wonderful person, full of warmth and life. Even though she was stunning, she did not look like a stick and like she could be the girl next door.

My favorite Alice Faye movie is That Night in Rio (1941). I know, it's not a serious movie. It is just plain fluff. Don Ameche is incredible in duel roles as Larry Martin and Baron Manual Duarte. Alice is the Baron's wife and through the wonder of motion pictures and mistaken identity, Alice and the Baron fall in love all over. Alice is wonderful, Ameche is genius, and the film has the under-rated Carmen Miranda doing her famous "Chica Chica Boom Chic"
