Mildred Pierce

Mildred Pierce is my absolute favorite movie of the moment. I watch it everytime it comes on (As evident by staying up until 1:30 AM tonight).

It is a glorious noir with Joan Crawford in all her glory. I really sympathize with her character. She is just trying to do the best for her family and her daughter Veda (played deliciously by Ann Blyth) is just plain evil.

The tale unfolds the story of Mildred's rise to fame and the ultimate murder of her husband of convenience. But who killed him?

Incredible casting. martyr Joan Crawford, deliciously evil Ann Blyth, and the funny Eve Arden in all her wise-cracking glory. This is one for the ages. SHOULD have won all the awards that year, but luckily Joan Crawford got a well-deserved Oscar.
