Hollywood Dish and Diets

I have never been a huge health food fan. I'm a meat and potatoes kind of girl, so I was a little surprised how much I loved Hollywood Dish by Akasha Richmond.

Not only were there a lot of great recipes in the book, but there was a lot of great Hollywood history.

I was not aware how far back Americans were following the diets of their favorite stars. It was also neat to learn about nutrition luminaries like Gayelord Hauser, C. W. Post, and of course Jack LaLanne.

Richmond also brought up some cool Brown Derby Restaurant history.

Apparently a lot of their produce came from celebrities such as: Trout from Noah Berry, Potatoes from Wally Ford

Corn from Clark Gable and Carole Lombard

Broccoli from Robert Taylor and Barbara Stanwyck

For a depressing post about how the site of The Brown Derby looks now check out: http://dearoldhollywood.blogspot.com/2009/04/hollywood-brown-derby.html
